Nathan woke up at 7AM and came over to bed and said "Mommy, is it my first day of school today?? Get up so we can get ready." He has afternoon kindergarten which means he doesn't have to be there till noon. He was ready a bit early. At one point he said he had a headache so he didn't think he could go to school today. But that passed quickly.
We all went to the school at noon. Nathan took his place in line for his class behind a boy with a Lightening McQueen backpack. That's where the teacher told him to stand and he would not move until the boy with the lightening McQueen backpack moved. Matt, Nicholas and I stood on the other side of the lobby while they were getting organized. A couple of times Nathan looked over at us and waved with a big smile on his face. There were a couple of breakdowns but really most of the kids did very well. Then it was time to go to his room. They all lined up and he was off (following the Lightening Mc Queen backpack of course) with a big smile on his face.
Nicholas and I went grocery shopping, played and then took a little rest. Soon it was 3, time to head down to the bus stop. Nicholas kept asking where the bus was on the way down. I met some of other moms in the neighborhood, found out that a new woman in the neighborhood had a little boy in Nathan's class. She lives just a few houses down from us (or will when they close in a few days). Nicholas had a good time playing with another little girl who was about his age. The bus was a little late. Finally it pulled up and out came Nathan.
Nathan told me they had recess, they read the Kissing Hand and a Kindergarten Story, they did a tracing of their hands (to go along with the Kissing hand), he sat at Table #2 with three other kids, and he had too many raisins in his snack (I should pack less tomorrow). He rode home on the bus with the other kindergartener at his bus stop and it was really cool. That's about it. :) Hopefully tomorrow will be just as exciting.
