On the first day of school Nathan woke up nice and early. He ate breakfast, got dressed and even had a few minutes to play computer before we all walked down to the bus stop early together. He was cheerful when he got on the bus. He said he had a good day and likes his teacher. When asked what she talked about, his reply has been "SCHOOL, She talked to us about school." (DUH). I did find out that there are rules for the playground (stay off the monkey bars, you could break your arm) and the cafeteria (when the lights go out that means you are too loud, which happened twice during his lunch period). He got to sing happy birthday to his art teacher and there was a yellow handprint with his name on it. He sits at a table, not a desk, and his teacher read him two stories, one about letters and one about numbers. He didn't sit by anyone he knew at lunch but the kids at his table showed him how you can make the chairs squeek (the basis for a life long friendship I think).
The second day, matt had to wake nathan up. He spilled milk on his pants and then the other pants were too loose on him (he went through 4 pairs of pants before he left the house). Because of getting up later and the pants debacle he didn't have time to play computer before he left. It was cold and overcast this morning which made him think that it was earlier than it really was. He was protesting that it was toooooo early to go to school as he was putting his shoes on and walking out the door. Daddy got him cheered up though and he seemed fine getting on the bus. I knew that cheerful morning thing yesterday wouldn't last very long. He is not a morning kid. It's going to be a long year.
