We had fake Christmas on Sunday. First Nathan must have been so excited by fake Christmas that he woke up at 4:30 and refused to go back to sleep. I gave up around 5:30 and took him down for breakfast. We woke up daddy around 6:30 because I couldn't keep him out of the living room where the presents were any longer. He walked in and saw one of the gifts that we had wrapped in Elmo wrapping paper. He yelled Elmo, ran over to it and stepped on the other gifts to get to it. It took some cajoling but I finally got him to stop trying to climb on that gift and to start on the stocking. I forgot how long it takes to open gifts when you want to play with each one. One of the first things he opened from his stocking was a small ball. Well then, the opening stopped so we could play with the ball for a while. He was having a great time though so no complaints on my end. He actually got into the ripping of the paper after a little while.
He really liked all of his gifts but the three he LOVED were 1. A small drum set with maracas, jingle bells, a bell set and snare drum with sticks. 2. A stuffed Elmo that is as tall as he is and 3. A tricycle. We made a beginner's mistake with the tricycle. We didn't put it together, we just wrapped the box it came in. Well of course when he opened it, he wanted to play with it but it wasn't together. So daddy took it downstairs to put it together and for the next hour or so I heard a lot of swearing coming from downstairs. But when it was finally together, he loved it. He kept driving it one way through the house, and then instead of turning it around, he would just back it up back through the house. That happened quite a few times, but he was having a great time. And then he would carry his Elmo around and tackle it and give it hugs. And he's already figured out how to open the drum and get all the other instruments out of it and how to play with two sticks.
All in all it took about two and a half hours to open the gifts and we had a great time doing it. Nathan slept for 3 and a half hours yesterday at nap time because he was exhausted from all the excitement and even then we had to wake him up. This was a great trial run for next sunday.
And today he gets to go to the Dr. for his 18 month visit and shots. Isn't that a fun way to follow up Christmas?

He He, Santa will be dropping off a fully built tricycle for Gage. What shots does Connecticut require at 18 months? Gage was shot free at his appointment.
Not sure what shot it was, matt took him in and didn't get the specifics. Our doctor is a little different than most I think. He likes to spread out the shots so you don't get three or four at one time. So this may have been one of the ones he should have gotten a little earlier but didn't.
As a follow up, looks like according the CT guidelines it was probably DTAP/DT#4. He doesn't need any more shots now until 4 years. YEAH
