Great Weekend

Friday morning we headed down to PA. We were planning on going Thursday night but Matt had an early morning meeting and didn't get home until late and was just too pooped to drive. We were slightly worried because we tend to drive when Nathan is sleeping. We got inthe car about 8:30. We stopped to get donuts (nathan's most favorite food in the world) and then hit the road. By about 10 Nathan was out like a light and slept until we got there around 12:30. Perfect. Plus that meant he didn't have to take a nap when we got there and he was a happy boy. We had a great time at Grandma's (Bam - ma's) and Granpop's (Bam - pop). Nathan was playing with all the toys and talking up a storm. Whenever he gets upset about something, and goes into his babble, we tell him to talk to us and use his words. When he starts talking and we can't quite figure out what he's saying we usually say a noncommital "ahah". That is obviously not good enough for Nathan. After about 2-3 of these "ahah's" he will say "Talk to me". I think we all got a "talk to me" this weekend. We celebrated my birthday and Nathan ate CAKE. This is the first time I've seen him ever eat cake. But he downed it and loved it. Of course I left my camera at home so I have no pictures. UGH!!

On Saturday we had pancakes (another favorite food) and then we went to LL Bean in the morning. Nathan loved all the boats and fish and had a great time. I got him a snowsuit and a nice coat for myself (thank you Matt for an early birthday present). Then we had lunch and headed to Grammy (Bammy) and Pappy's (Pappy) house. By the time we got there nathan had slept about 10 minutes in the car but once we got there he was too excited to sleep. So Bammy read him lots of stories. Then finally Connor woke up from his nap and the excitement began. It's nice because the two of them just chase each other around the house and wear each other out. It was Logan's birthday on Friday so on Sunday we had more birthday cake. Yummy. Nathan and connor wore each other out on the bouncy balls all morning. But i didn't want to give nathan a nap on sunday because we wanted to leave by 5. So he stayed up and played with Aunt stacy while I picked out new colors for my kitchen with the rest of the women in the family. We didn't get on the road until 6 (even though I started packing up at 4... it just takes a long time to get going, especially when nathan and connor are having such a good time together). Nathan didn't want to stop and eat so we brough lunch meat and cheese with us in the car. Nathan was eating the cheese slowly because he was so tired. About 20 minutes into the trip I looked back and he was asleep with the cheese halfway to his mouth. He was just exhausted. He slept most of the way home. He woke up once and told us to turn down the music.

Nicholas of course was his charming self. He has the biggest mouth smile ever. When he smiles I swear you can see all the way down to his toes. He didn't sleep too well... not sure if it's becuase of the new places or not. He's started talking... a lot. Very cute especially the way he moves his mouth when he's trying to talk. He has also gotten to the stage where it's not so easy to take things away from him. At Grandma's, she put a plate of pancakes down within his reach. When she saw him reach for them she moved them away and our sweet little easy going peanut started crying like someone had ripped his fingernails off. We were all so stunned we just looked at him for a few moments before anyone moved to comfort him. We just could not comprehend what had just happened.

Well that's enough for now. We had a great visit with everyone but now it's back to the grindstone. It's my first full week (hopefully if no one gets sick) so I expect to be exhausted by Thursday. Have a great day
